Dryden is a quiet valley community between Peshastin and Cashmere, ranch and orchard land in the Wenatchee River's wide green bottom, named for a Canadian railroad engineer. The highway rolls through on a gentle grade, the river stays in view, and the whole place runs at valley pace. For pass drivers Dryden is a milepost of decompression: the mountains are behind, the snow line is usually above the roofline, and the drive has become a cruise.
Straightforward as it looks, the Dryden stretch earns respect on winter mornings when valley fog sits between the orchard rows and visibility drops to a few car lengths, and again at harvest and blossom season when slow farm equipment shares the road. This is also where eastbound drivers who white knuckled the pass need to fight the urge to make up time: the valley's speed enforcement is famously attentive, and Wenatchee is twenty minutes away at the limit.
The full Stevens Pass conditions page carries the summit story: avalanche zones, the two climbs, and the storm playbook.
Every camera on the highway is on the US 2 cameras page, in milepost order from Everett to Wenatchee.
